The West keeps repeating the same mistake again and again since the Soviets disintegrated 1991. We think that negotiating with gangsters can make them better people. It´s not money-driven behaviour. It´s about breaking moral tabus. This is what it takes to become a real gangster.

This is what Pennyworth in Dark Knight says: "Some guys just want to watch the world burn." There is an empty place in them, where other people have dignity. In order to make this place less itchy, they want to burn down all the different civilizations and people.

3/3 This is the "Dark Arousal" I describe in my second book "Feed the Demons": As a fallen angel, you need to make the Earth to hell. This is the only way how to get back your dignity. Money is just the upper layer. We deeply misunderstood #Russia. @MagdaVasaryova @anneapplebaum

1/Following great stories by @jennymedina and @mannyNYT, sharing some of what I saw on election night, most of which I spent with Mexican-American Republicans in the Rio Grande Valley (Cameron and Hidalgo counties) w/ @IlanaPL on the 📸.

2/I had seen on social media before I arrived that Trump trains were happening locally and I was curious to see if he had gained meaningful ground (You know by now that Hillary won there in 2016 by 33 and 41 percentage points respectively.) ex:

3/I also wanted to see what it was like, in a red state allegedly turning purple, to be in a blue region that may have been moving in the opposite direction.

4/Aside from Twitter, it was hard to find coverage of the Trump trains (which, according to locals, had been going on every weekend for at least a month, with hundreds involved) or of growing local enthusiasm for Trump.

5/Late morning, I spoke to @MorganGrahamGOP, the first Latina head of the Cameron County Republicans, who expected modest but meaningful gains. “I don’t think he’s going to break 40%, but mid-high 30s. That doesn’t seem like a lot to folks,” she said, but in the RGV, it was.
It makes sense to me.

Donald Trump is the most energizing and polarizing force in American politics in living memory.

He turned out insane numbers both of lovers and haters. It’s not hard to see the haters outnumber the lovers.

The ‘you’re telling me more people voted for Nobody Biden than Messiah Obama?!’ incredulity ignores the reality of Trump.

No. No one voted for Biden. They voted against ‘Literal Hitler’.

Of course they did. The media programmed them to. The academy. The swamp...

Trump’s strength and weakness are his inability to avoid the spotlight. He wouldn’t let the election be a referendum on Biden and the left. If he had, he might have blunted the turnout on the left.

...

Instead, he made it about himself - and he is the most hated (and lived) guy in America.

The people turned out to ‘topple a dictator.’ They voted ‘like their lives depended on it.’ They stopped ‘fascism!’

Throw in the fact they didn’t actually have to ‘turnout’ at all, they just had to fill in ballots that were mailed directly to them, and it’s no surprise at all so many voted.

The left fundamentally altered the process of voting to create the surge. It worked. We’re surprised?
Here's a politician telling you the truth. The Omnibus Bill is a pork-laden collection of wasteful spending that may not stand scrutiny on their own. Collectively, politicians look the other way so long as everyone gets a seat on the Omni-bus.

Don't blindly celebrate politicians "bringing home the bacon" because your $4 million project just cost Taxpayers $2.3 trillion. A bank wouldn't give credit to any of us who handled money like our government does.

Your taxes don't go up simply because we needed Covid relief. They go up because 435 lawmakers have to impress you with how much they can add to our debt of our great grandkids. As a nation, we don't actually have any of this money. Neither party cares.

#COVID19 #omnibusbill

We have to pay more attention. The credit card payment will come due at some point and there are not enough rich people to tax.

Finally, for now, don't you think it's odd that the leaders of these parties have been doing their jobs for 20-30 years and we keep having to get to Christmas deadlines to pass large, unread legislation? That's not a design flaw, it's a feature! They're playing all of us.
