I think two factors. 1st, the McConnell wing of the GOP doesn't want a successful spending program, even under an R president, because that might help legitimize an increased govt role in general. That is, they opposed infra not bc it might fail but bc it might succeed 2/
2nd, Trump team was addicted to crony capitalism. They couldn't do a clean bill; it had to offer privatized stuff that would mean big bucks for their friends 3/
Not ready to celebrate until or unless we also get BBB. The case for investment in people — and climate! — is even stronger than the case for steel and concrete. But amazing how much can happen once you can push the ideologies and crony capitalists to one side 4/

They are doing the important work of pressuring our elected officials to make this happen and we can all do our part.
It is a crime against the United States of America
It is INCREDIBLY serious, federal life remaining. Life without parole
Sanctions are imposed by USA against a foreign government. Because USA is world financial center, that is VERY damaging to foreign payments. Because US dollar is most used international payment currency, it limits any other country's financial activity enormously
Current Iranian sanctions were imposed by USA in 1987 (Reagan) when Iran supported terrorism against shipping. Were expanded in 1995 (Clinton) & in 2006 (W Bush). Trump has circumvented these with Turkish bank, and Trump properties in USA It is money laundering crime for a NATION
When Putin invaded Ukraine in 2014 and annexed Crimea, Obama slapped biggest sanctions in US history against Russia. Trump then worked with Putin to circumvent these, partly with Putin's bank with offices conveniently in Trump Tower.
Sanctions busting is a financial activity where a US citizen helps a sanctioned country bypass the sanctions. So it is a crime against the Unted States of America
Legally, it is not 'treason' but is a 'treasonous' crime, somewhat similar. Assisting America's enemies illegally
Why is every Investment App trying to become a Mutual fund company?🤔
FinTechs like Zerodha and Groww have already disrupted the stockbroking & mutual funds distribution space and have become the largest player in their industr, they own the distribution.
They want to make their own Mutual Funds & control the manufacturing as well.
In Dec 2020, SEBI made it easy to apply for a Mutual Fund license. Earlier, they needed to be profitable for the 3 out of the previous 5 years including the most recent one - and no startups were profitable. But now, they just needed to show a net worth of Rs. 100 Cr.
This is also the perfect time to enter the Mutual Fund market. India is still way under-penetrated with a lot of first-time investors coming. And as per Nithin Kamath, Mutual funds will be one of the key products to push more people into investing.
Who all are in the race?
Largest stockbroker (Zerodha), Largest mutual fund distributor (Groww), one of the biggest NBFC (Bajaj Finserv), several star investors like Deepak Shenoy, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala are strong in the race, apart from FinTechs like Paytm Money, PhonePe & Niyo.
here's my 3 part theory..
Part I - Everyone is wrong
Most people think "the metaverse" is a virtual place.
Like in the movie Ready Player One.
A virtual world, like Minecraft, Roblox, or like Zuck showed in the facebook demo yesterday.
But what if it's not a place?
Part II - It's Not a Place, It's a Time
A time? wtf?
Yes, a moment in time.
You know in artificial intelligence, there's an idea of "the singularity"?
It's a moment in time where AI becomes smarter than humans. The moment when artificial intelligence > human intelligence
Part III - What it is
The metaverse is the moment in time where our digital life is worth more to us than our phsyical life.
This is not an overnight change. Or an invention by some steve jobs type.
It's a gradual change that's been happening for 20 yrs
Every important part of life is going digital.
Work --> from factories to laptops. boardrooms to zooms.
Friends --> from neighbors to followers. Where do you find like minded people? Twitter. Reddit. etc.
Games --> more kids play fortnite than basketball & football combined.
An unfair advantage that the Wall Street Journal used to drive $2 Billion in revenue over 28 years using the same sales letter.
Here are 7 copywriting tips to help you write sticky stories 🧵
1. Use Familiar Words
Every audience has words familiar to their interests.
Injecting these words into your stories connects the familiarity gap.
And unfamiliar words create seclusion.
Gary Provost with a great example:
2. Inject Real Stories
Your story is your social proof.
The more a consumer can see that you were once in their shoes, the more that consumer will see you as the guide they’ve been looking for.
Customers want to know you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.
3. Your Brand Isn’t The Hero
The customer is always the hero.
And their goal is the destination.
Your brand provides the map.
The visualization from start to destination is how you sell them.
4. Use Emotional Tones
Emotions are your best friend.
They’re what get people to take action.
And the best writers use emotional tones to transfer information through characters, plots, and conclusions.

🧵How did Rakesh Jhunjhunwala make his money from trading? Covered very well.
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala became rich initially by Trading and not Investing.— ARJUN BHATIA (@ArjunB9591) October 21, 2021
Thread on the same \U0001f9f5
It is called genius because Jhunjhunwala made Rs 20 lakh to Rs 15,000 crore in 30 years through the stock market. And that Rs 20 lakh was also borrowed money at 20% interest. pic.twitter.com/ZkGU4iG5UR
🧵Amazing thread on various indicators.
This is not a thread from the current week but @ArjunB9591 brought this to my notice so I shared it.
I keep a "memory jar" for each year wherein I write in brief the best moments of my life & lessons learnt. Even a small event which taught me something goes in it .
I strongly believe in " No regrets, only lessons learnt ".
( That's handpainted by me! :) )
Occasionally when I have a rough day or when I am elated , I go through the chits one by one savouring the lessons learnt . It keeps me grounded. Makes me realise I am blessed to have had so many #memories & grown as a person and that life is beautiful !! 😇
Things that happen to us, just happen. It is we who perceive it to be good or bad as per our emotions at play. It is then that practising gratitude becomes of utmost importance for we need to realign our thoughts towards #positivity& #contentment & steer away from negativity.
Life can be cruel but it is also beautiful if we learn to be thankful.
Are we thankful for the hot food on our plate ? Did we realise we can see the beauty of nature only due to the gift of vision bestowed upon us? Are we thankful each day for having a sound mind?
Let's stop complaining about all that we don't have and instead focus on all that we are fortunate to have !! For no matter how difficult our life seems for us , let's remember there will ALWAYS be someone who would gladly switch places with us and live our life happily!
Let us choose the most simplest & most effective of all tools - #Elliottwave
IF the name sounds complex & alien to you, let us call it just #Wave - Why ?
In the market, Prices never flow like a river but unfold like waves.. yes., waves
#Waves advance, then retrace and with each advance & retraces, they gather strength & thus the subsequent advances grow in strength & intensity until they blow themselves up. Then, they go into a quiet mode.
This is Nature's Law; Crowd behaviour and we deal with just that.
What this Nature's Law states is that the advances & declines follow "Fibonacci sequences"
1, (1+1)2, (2+1)3, (3+2)5, (5+3)8, (8+5)13, (13+8)21 & so on...
It has been observed by Ralph.N.Elliott (1939) that these advances move in 5 waves followed by a 3 wave decline - 12345 & abc
What is a wave ? No explanation is given by Elliott himself Why? Co's it's highly subjective at the time of labeling each advance & decline. Each perceives it differently
Then, how do we approach it ?
Demand & supply restrict themselves to a channel till one overpowers the other
This, channeling helps to identify each part of wave as 1st, now, 2nd followed by 3rd, etc.,
1st is an advance
2nd is a retrace of 1st by 38%-61.8% or more but never 100%
3rd is the next advance having gathered strength in 1st & pausing in 2nd and thus with great strength
When I was in charge of a P&L, the guy who ran Finance for us and I had what we called the 'shelf plan.'
There were maybe 3-4 of us who knew it existed.
What's a shelf plan?
Well it's a plan you keep on the shelf (full FP&A model), that you hope you never have to use.
It reduces forward hires, cuts back various line items (typically ad spend, travel, that sort of thing).
Oh, it also has a big fat RIF in there.
That's why we don't talk about it.
Why have a plan instead of winging it?
Because this is where companies (particularly young companies) sometimes err. They do little cuts - 2-3% here and there, preserving as much headcount as they can, that sort of thing.
This is incorrect.
If you're at the point where you need to make material changes to your forward P&L, at 2-3% RIF will be followed by another.
And this series of progressive cuts will cripple morale, incrementally reducing the productivity of the staff you retain to survive.
And so the shelf plan cuts deep.
Your goal is to go from being a peacetime machine to a wartime machine, so you gotta lean out quick. Can't do that without a plan, hence the need to have one.
~30% cut is what you need.
And then you need to tell everyone left they're safe.
