Chasing extended #stocks is often not rewarded! What's extended?
1) >70% above EMA 200
2) Up 3 days in a row
3) >3 pullbacks on the EMA 21
4) >5% above trading base without pullback
5) >10% in one day It's better to wait for a consolidation before you enter.

7 signs a stock trend is exhausted:
1) Price >100% above MA 200
2) Largest volume since start of the trend
3) Big gap after several months of rally
4) New highs on lower volume
5) Reversal bar on weekly chart
6) 50% gains in 3 weeks
7) >7 days up in a row

Avoiding big draw downs at all costs is important because
10% loss requires 11% gain
20% loss requires 25% gain
50% loss requires 100% gain
90% loss requires 900% gain
to get back to break-even.
Managing the down side is much more important than managing the upside!

5 ways to find a stop loss level:
1) Fixed percentage: 5-10% is enough
2) Breakout level: 3-5% below the breakout level.
3) Moving averages: Below the 10, 20 or 50 MA.
4) Trendline: A multiple tested trendline is a good place.
5) Average True Range: Use 2 or 3 times the ATR.

I always look at weekly charts first. Only if I see an appealing chart pattern (VCP, cup & handle, flat base …) here, I go to the daily chart. With that approach, I can flip over hundreds of charts in minutes.

I personally don't buy any breakout! It must fulfill some criteria:
– Volatility contraction closely to the breakout line
– Volume dry up
– Sound chart pattern
– Story stock or great fundamentals
Pay attention to the details!
Don't blindly buy every outbreak.

#Trading tip: There is rarely a reason to sell a stock which is above the EMA 8 or even EMA 21. I am sure: If you use this rule instead of blindly selling on your feelings, you will make a lot more profits.

#Trading tip: If stock is up >3 days in a row before a breakout, be cautious. Often it pulls back and you get a better risk-reward-ratio after the pullback.
